Another frustrating week for Batley U12s v a good Dewsbury Celtic team that showed why they are top of the league.
Yet again Batley didnt show up or play until the last 10 minutes when they were 38 points to nil down, showing a lacklustre display in the first half and missing tackles galore to allow Celtic to rack up the points. After a hard training session on Friday, Batley turned up and conceded on the first play which has now become a weekly occurrence, by half time the game was over and all heads were down apart from Top Tackler Max Clark who as captain tried to set the tone but realised the others had lost interest. Slowly in the second half Batley woke up and realised they had to step it up in the tackle with joint Spectators Man of the Match Bader Hussain and Will Stoner joining forces with Coaches Man of the Match Leon Heeley to dig in and force Celtic onto the back with Most Improved Jake Farrell coming to the party with his strong runs and tough tackling, Batley eventually troubled the scoreboard with 2 opportunist tries through prop Cole Innes who needs to step up and start showing more consistency and a conversion by Max Clark.
Shane Gaunt, Harry Pearson, Joe Scott, Kyle Horrocks, Joe Goodall, Tom Rhodes, Lucas Tomlinson( went off injured 1st half) and Harrison Headley as well as the rest of the team need to start games how they finish and need to realise that no team will roll over and let them win, its all about grit and determination and belief.
