In a tough game played in Arctic conditions, Batley came up against a very strong defensive team in Queensbury.
Yet again Batley didnt play to their full potential and in the first half too many handling errors cost them the game as Queensbury built up a 12-0 lead with 3 tries that can only be described as gifts, which would have been more had Tom Rhodes not put his body on the line with a last ditch tackle with seconds to go to prevent a certain try while others stood back and watched. After a stern talking to by the coaches Batley came out in the second half with it all to do but came up against a defensive brick wall that wasnt budging which gave Queensbury more confidence and another try soon followed, to be fair Batley kept battling even when they were reduced to 12 men with the sending off of Max Clark who up until then had been one of the stand out players on the Batley side and who came away with Opposition Player Of The Day, eventually Batley crossed the line in the final minutes through Top Tackler Matty Blackshaw after a perfect pass from Lucas Tomlinson.
Man of the Match Levi Charlton worked his socks yet again with Most Improved Leon Heeley getting better with every game backed up by Shane Gaunt, Will Stoner, Harry Pearson, Joe Scott, Joe Goodall, Harrison Headley, Bader Hussain and new boy Kyle Horrock.
Batley need to realise quickly that a win has to be earned through sheer determination and that teams wont just roll over so heads up and move onto the next game and lets get a win.
