An enthralling game

In another exciting end to end game of rugby between two evenly matched teams Batley found themselves behind from the first play of the game.

All credit to Batley who rolled up their sleeves and put in their best display of the season so far pinning Dewsbury in their half for long periods of the game and with a bit more composure and luck would have resulted in their first win of the season against a good Dewsbury team.

Batley scored two tries of their own in an even first half through Magic Moment winner Max Clark who finished with a hat-trick including a full length run holding off a Dewsbury winger to score under the posts and a conversion to only trail by 6 at half time with some fantastic defence and counter attacking rugby.

Second half Batley had the all the momentum in their favour but could only score one more try which didnt really reflect the end score line and had Dewsbury on the back foot and playing panic rugby. Batleys Bader Hussain who won Opposition Man of the Match led the defence line with 12 tackles which also won him Top Tackler and had it not been for a knock on would have scored his first try of the season, Jake Farrell won Man of the Match for an all out display running the ball in hard and tackling his heart out with Most Improved Tom Rhodes backing them up with his high tackle count and one stand out text book last man tackle in the second half, Cole Innes added to his tackle count with some big hits with Lucas Tomlinson and Levi Charlton weighing in with their fair share of big tackles. Harrison Headley, Will Stoner, Leon Heeley and Joe Scott( 1 conversion) all played a big part in a performance that pleased all involved and should lift this Batley for the rest of the season.
