Another tough day at the office
After a 2 week break Batley came up against a strong well drilled Headingley side and as the scoreline reads they sure knew about it.
Yet again for the 3rd game running Batley played against 1 man extra which gave Headingley the opportunity to use the gaps and throw the ball around at will. Batley started slow again and were 16-0 down after 10 mins but credit to the players they lifted themselves to get back into game at 16-10, another try made it 20-10 and after strong defending by Headingley who held up Player of the Day Matty Blackshaw and Prop Forward Cole Innes on the line seconds before half time which might have swung the game in Batleys favour.
In the second half it was like Batley had lost all their strength and ability as there heads dropped instantly and Headingley pounced on every mistake and scored freely which is a worry for the coaches as they head into this weekends cup game.
Batley had a few plus points in Top Tackling Levi Charlton and Most Improved Joe Goodall and good first half performances from Opposition Player of the Day Max Clark, Lucas Tomlinson, Tom Rhodes, Joe Scott, Shane Gaunt, Jake Farrell, Leon Heeley, Harrison Headley, Matty Blackshaw, Cole Innes, Levi Charlton and Joe Goodall
