Batley Boys travelled to Dewsbury Moor on Saturday to compete in the semi finals of the local cup.
Batley made several changes to the starting line up both in terms of players and positions as they looked to bounce back after last weeks disappointment. It was Dewsbury however who started the strongest as they pinned Batley in their own half and tested the Batley defence. As Batley began to settle down they got back into the game and Most improved Charlie Sandell used power and pace to open the scoring. Moor continued to test Batley but excellent defence from Top tackler Joe Hyland, Jarrad Kirk, Owen West and Josh Ward kept them out. Jack Broadbent extended the lead and on the stroke of half time Kyle Foley scored to leave Batley 16-0 up.
The second half became something of an arm-wrestle in the early stages before Batley re-asserted their dominance with Most improved Harry Brearey, Dylan Hodgson, and Paul Scott building the platform for Luke Slack, Liam Rush and man of the match Charlie Dransfield to take control. Charlie Sandell found a gap as he scored his second which visibly rocked the Moor who never recovered. Spectators man of the match Kyle Render was excellent in an unfamiliar wing role as were Josh Scrutton, Harry Foster and Morgan Oates. It was left to Kyle Foley to complete the scoring as he ran in three tries in quick succession to leave the final score at Batley Boys 38-0 Dewsbury Moor
