Off to a winning start

The U14s started their season off strongly with a good win over Stanley Rangers . The game was played in tough rainy conditions on mud ridden pitch. Batley were playing up hill for the first half and handled the conditions well with strong runs from fwds jack smith ,Leon Ruan ,Alex Kenworthy . They set the platform for the backs and 1st points went on the board for Batley as Jonah Parsons stepped through the Stanley pack to score under the posts. Batley continued to put on the pressure with the centres Will Meehan and Ethan Hogg putting in some strong tackles on the Stanley pack. Stanley struggled to keep a hold of the ball under the Batley pressure and Batley progressed up the field. Half back Mason Brame gave a strong performance feeding the ball out around the field and it wasn't long before Stanley failed to stop Jonah Parsons as he broke through the pack spinning out of a tackle over the line . Good hands all game from Toby Harrison got Batley on the run from kick off and solid performances from Kyle Tomlinson and Max Rhodes gaining yards and putting in a massive defensive effort ,whilst Joseph Wisher came in from the wing to make drives up field . The score soon increased for Batley as Jonah got his hatrick ,dummying and stepping the Stanley boys to score under the posts . Oliver Tomlinson was solid with the boot all day kicking the conversions. Tommy Roberts solid performance as Hooker throughout the game helped set up an attack before half time and smart passing down the line had Full back Jacob Beety run a perfect line straight through Stanley to score the 4th try of the day .
The second half was a little scrappier and Stanley started off well putting pressure on Batley and managed to tag together a nice line play finishing with their only try of the day.
It wasn't to be Stanleys day though as Batley attacked again and Will Meehan linked up a tidy play to score in the corner .

Debuts from Jermaine Rose-Auty, Rhys Graham and Ryan Mellor all added to the performance of the team making some great tackles and gaining good yards.

An awesome start to the season and all round impressive performance
