With there heads up Brotherton continued to press with a good period leading to a try off the scrum down the blind side. Batley fort hard just before the break and with the move of the match coming from the hands of Fisher to North who swept it to Edwards who in turn dropped off Rhodes (M.O.M) who powered his way to the line twisting and shrugging off the defenders to score a fine try, Waterworth converting. The score 18-10 at the Half. After the break Brotherton too advantage of Batley's slow fumbling start with a near full length try down the wing, exposing the defensive line again twice. Batley started to get the upper hand with some defence splitting kick returns from Waterworth & darting runs from North and Wilson Martin, giving the Boys a much needed lift, and with the Boys on a charge up the field, good speedy hands from Fisher at half back and relentless work from Edwards led to Aldridge spotting a gap on the line and bursting over for a converted try to take the narrow win finishing 24 - 22.
